Les Folies par Marquis de CHASSE Red Bordeaux
Well dressed in its new label, Marquis de Chasse lets go with "folies" !
Fot the 19th century bourgeois bordelaises the "Folies"
were country houses of high living and enjoyment without restraint
located out of the city center. The "Folies" were an important part of
that richepoch of romanticism, renowned poets and the rise of those
prestigious Bordeaux wine chateaux.
Today the "Folies" by Marquis de Chasse represents the
elegance, finesse and romanticism of that area with one of its great
Bordeaux classic wines, top of the line in the Marquis de Chasse wine
selection. GRAPE VARIETIES :85% Merlot , 15% Cabernet Franc
TASTING NOTES : This powerful wine presents a garnet-red robe of great intensity, with purplish tints too. The nose, very expressive and pleasant, blends the woody
notes (clove, mocha coffe) and the scents of fruits ripened with alcool
(fruit stones, morello cherry, sloeberry) harmoniously together ;
already very well matured in spite of its young age, in time it will
gain a superb bouquet. The attack is very suave and ample, with lots of charm which then evolves onto a dense tannic structure.
The aromatic level and the fleshof this wine give it a
volume and a length in the mouth, both absolutely remarkable. A gourmet and modern wine to be enjoyed now or un 5 to 15 years time if stored in a good cellar.
This excellent bottle, served at about 16°C, is a
wonderful match with pan-fried duck breast or with a back of braised
venison accompanied with small steamed vegetables and a well seasoned
boletus sauce.
